Children’s Day School seeks a full time Donor Relations Associate to support the many aspects of the work of the Advancement Office including donor communications, gift processing, database management, event planning, donor research and stewardship, and other administrative support. The ideal candidate is a team player with excellent communications skills, a thoughtful partner with a can-do attitude and flexibility, with attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee donor acknowledgements and gift processing in a timely manner, including entering all gifts and pledges into the donor database, preparing donor acknowledgement and pledge reminders, and stewardship.
  • Ensure personal recognition of all gifts by writing acknowledgment letters and communications to donors.
  • Manage aspects of the donor database, including updating records and generating reports as needed.
  • Work closely with the business office to ensure monthly reconciliation.
  • Provide donor and foundation research.
  • Assist with event planning and day-of coordination. Work closely with parent volunteers, faculty and staff on special Advancement events, including Grandparents Day, Auction, Volunteer Appreciation and Country Fair.
  • Help coordinate a variety of donor communications, including invitations, newsletters, brochures, and other collateral as needed.
  • Provide administrative support as needed for the department.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Commitment to CDS’ mission and values.
  • Bachelor's degree required. With two to three years of relevant experiences.
  • Database experience, preferably with a donor database (Filemaker Pro or Raisers’ Edge).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative to meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel,
  • Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent problem solver and eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, great sense of humor, and discretion and good judgment Strong customer service mindset.
  • Ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff, parents, alumni and students. Must be able to work with highly confidential information.
  • Able to work occasional nights and weekends.

Physical Qualifications
• Regularly sit, talk, run, move equipment, hear, and visually interact with   students/staff
• Work at a desk and computer screen
• Regularly use close and distance vision
• Be able to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs
• Work in a traditional climate controlled office environment
